At CJAS, we strive to allow every student to explore the art and craft of making jewelry, whether they are beginners or already have some experience in the studio. Most of our classes are beginner-friendly.

We keep our class sizes small, no more than 5 or 6 students, depending upon the class, so spots can fill up quickly.

CJAS is located in Mid-City LA, very close to the Fairfax exit of the 10 freeway. Exact address is given upon registration.

There’s loads of free parking. Street cleaning happens Mondays and Tuesdays, so pay attention to street signs on those days.

CJAS welcomes anyone age 15 and up to register for our workshops and classes. Younger children can engage in all aspects of the work we do and are welcome to arrange for private or semi-private sessions. You can also schedule a party for younger kids.

Studio etiquette:

as in any metal-working studio, respect for others and our equipment is mandatory. To ensure each person’s safety, everyone should wear close-toed shoes, clothing made of natural fibers that are not baggy, especially around the sleeves, and all long hair must be worn up.

Tools and materials:

Students in our weekly classes are expected to bring their own tool kit. A list and links to purchase the tools will be provided upon registration. Tools are provided for students in our specialized workshops.

Every class and workshop has a materials fee on top of the registration fee. Materials fees can change base on market prices. We strive to keep our fees as low as possible.

Referral Policy:

We are pleased to offer discounts to current students who refer students to our classes —

  • Current students receive a $20 discount on their next registration for every new student who enrolls in a class or workshop

  • Students who register in a weekly class as a result of a referral from a current student will receive a $25 discount on material fees

  • Students who register in a workshop as a result of a referral from a current student will receive a $20 discount on material fees

To claim discounts, be sure to include the name of the student who referred you when you register.

Cancellation Policy:

As noted above, we keep our classes small, which means that cancellations impact everyone involved. To minimize disruption, we’ve come up with the following policy —

  • If you notify us more than 7 days before your workshop or class, you may reschedule or cancel your registration with a 20% cancellation fee.

  • Within 7 days of your workshop or class, you may reschedule to a future date with $50 rescheduling fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations within the 7 days prior to your workshop.

  • Within 48 hours of your workshop or class, no rescheduling or refunds will be available.

We are aware that emergencies arise, so please contact us directly if there is an extenuating circumstance.

Handmade Jewelry - Metalsmithing and Intro to Lost Was Makeup Policy:

  • This policy applies to our weekly students: we all know that life sometimes happens, and you may have to miss a class during your six-week term. We offer opportunities to do makeup classes, either in another of the regularly scheduled classes or in a standalone makeup session that we hold during the course of the term.

  • All makeups must be completed within two terms of your missed class. After that, you forfeit that session.
